Affiliate Business Tips
Why you must presell
The most important thing you can do to increase your affiliate commissions is to presell properly.
First, what is preselling? Well, it is an art. And it’s also a science. It’s a process of taking your reader and getting them ready to buy. Then when they’re ready, refer them to the product website so they can buy it. When done correctly, your reader will not even notice.
Basically, you give them some content. And give them a link to the product you’re preselling. In a second we’ll talk about how to do actually it. First, it’s important to understand why we do it. Here are a few benefits of preselling:
- It helps your reader trust you – And gaining the trust of your readers helps them want to click your links. And the more clicks you get the more sales you’ll make.
- It takes your reader out of defense mode – When you’re preselling vs. pitching, you’re reader doesn’t feel the need to be guarded. Unguarded reading means they’re not filtering what you say. And your intention is conveyed more easily.
- It preps them to buy – Now they’re open to hearing what you’re telling them. Being open means, they are open to everything you give them. This includes the sales website you send them to! And being open to the information there means they are much more likely to buy.
- Your commissions go up – Now your reader arrives at the sales page in a buying mood. With the guard down and trusting your recommendation. The only thing that can result is increased sales!
- Your customers are happier – People like to make their own buying decisions. Instead of feeling pressured or “sold”. So they are happier with their purchase.
- Preselling increases your bottom line – Satisfied customers are less like to refund. And that translates to more commission staying in your affiliate business.
The need to presell is clear. You make more money. And increase your customer satisfaction. Everybody wins!
How does it work?
OK, now you understand why it’s so important. And hopefully you’re convinced you need to start doing it. So, let’s talk about how to make it work. As I mentioned earlier, it’s both an art and a science.
Part 1 – The art of it
First, you have to gain the trust of your reader, so they let their guard down. This can only be accomplished by providing actual value in the information you’re presenting. But you can’t give them so much that they think they have everything they could need, and that’s what makes it an art. So you send them to the product website with a hunger for more of what the product provides. Plus they’re not guarded, so they’re more open and likely to purchase the product.
The science component
There are also several key elements that need to be included.
One of these key elements is the presentation of the information. You’ve got to map out your strategy before you start writing. Your end goal is to make a sale of the product you’re preselling. There are two ways to accomplish this with great content. First, you can provide useful but incomplete information. The second way is to provide all the information and let your reader discover how hard it is to actually implement it. Whichever method, you send them to a product website that solves the problem you just created.
Next, you have to use “convert linking” methods. Instead you link directly to the product sales page. That’s because nobody likes to click on affiliate links. But how are you going to get credit for the sale, if you don’t include your affiliate link? There’s a trick to make this work… You “pre-cookie” your reader before sending them to the sales page.
Next, you want to make sure you’re linking on related words and phrases. Hyperlinked words are clicked more than anything else. Plus, if you link on relevant words, it only makes sense to click on there.
What you have now is a super powerful system for affiliate marketing success.
OK, here’s the not-so-good news:
This process is not easy – at all! Let’s talk about everything required to put this plan into action: Great content. The entire process depends on your being able to provide useful information to your readers. Which means you need to be both knowledgable on the subject and capable of writing a high-quality article. Strategic writing. First, you have to give good information. But, you also need to know how to present the information in a way that give value to the reader. And somehow also make them want to learn more. Or provide so much information that they see how hard it will be to implement.
Picking products. You also need to determine what products you’ll be preselling. If you can manage to get the article written well. Your efforts are completely wasted if you don’t pick a winning product.
The technical know-how To be most effective you have to use the “covert cookie” method. This is fairly simple – you use a 1 X 1 image and set the “source” to your affiliate link. (But if you mess it up, your referrals won’t be tracked.)
In closing:
Now you’re armed with the information needed to effectively presell. Using these techniques will increase your affiliate sales by 500% or more! It’s absolutely critical to do this every time – and to do it correctly. Don’t wait another minute. Put in the effort to reap the greater rewards.
